VISIT ROME IN A DAY

Many itineraries to discover Rome. The eternal city offers wonders in every street corner. The first city itinerary that we present is: Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill

The Colosseum, the simolo of Rome and of Italy. It was built by the Emperor Vespasian to entertain the Roman people, rich and poor. Here there were very different performances from each other. The most appreciated were the fights between gladiators and gladiators and "hunting" (fights with ferocious animals). The Colosseum, a huge building where 50,000 spectators were able to move together quickly, sheltered by huge sails. The Colosseum is still the reference model for the construction of modern stadiums.

The second part of the tour is a journey into the life of Ancient Rome. The Roman Forum is the largest archaeological site in the world. Your guide will help you bring back thousands of years of history, through anecdotes and legends. You will understand how the architecture of modern Christian basilicas was studied right here. In fact, in the Roman Forum there were the remains of the ancient basilicas that, obviously, had other functions. The basilicas Emilia and Julia are still recognizable, like the temples of the Divo Julio, Vespasiano and Saturn and many other buildings. The Triumphal Arches are very well preserved. Finally the Palatine. The Palatine Hill is the oldest part of Rome, where Romulus founded the "Roma Quadrata", destined to become the largest empire in the world. Augustus, Tiberius, Maxentius and many others, decided to build their palaces here, among the remains of the walls of Romulus and the huts of 4,000 years ago. A curiosity: it is from Palatine that the name Palazzo derives. Its panoramic position offers an incomparable view.

The second itinerary to discover Rome is Fountains and Squares, Vatican Museums and St. Peter's.

With our driver and our guide you will reach the Fontana della Barcaccia under the Trinità dei Monti staircase, named after the church at the top of the hill. You will then reach the Trevi Fountain, the largest and most spectacular Roman fountain, built at the end of one of the aqueducts that supplied water during the Roman Empire. During the tour "Visiting Rome in a day" you can not miss the Pantheon, miraculously well-preserved masterpiece, whose diameter has never been equaled, and Piazza Navona with the glorious Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini, the Nile, the Ganges, the Danube and the Rio de La Plata. Following the Vatican Museums, you will appreciate countless masterpieces such as the splendid "Stanze di Raffaello", once official residence of the popes, and other treasures among the numerous galleries, such as collections of ancient mosaics, precious Greek and Roman sculptures and especially the Rooms of the Tapestries and those of the Geographical Maps. The incredible Sistine Chapel with the "Last Judgment" by Michelangelo, are surely the real attraction. Remember to cover your shoulders and knees before entering the Sistine Chapel. Finally, San Pietro: you will enter the Basilica of San Pietro, where you and your guide will enter through a special door. The largest and richest Basilica in the world will welcome you with Michelangelo's "Pietà" and will leave you with the embrace of the immense Bernini's colonnade in St. Peter's Square.
